A genuine home-from-home stay

Dogs stay in my home for licensed home boarding and are cared for as part of our everyday family life, receiving companionship, individual attention, and plenty of time to relax. I aim to provide the best Dachshund care by following their familiar routines as closely as possible, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and settled throughout their stay.

Is Dashing Dogs home boarding right for your dog?

Our home from home dog boarding service is designed for sociable small and small-to-medium dogs that enjoy the company of others and are comfortable taking part in carefully managed group walks. Visiting dogs must also be able to settle overnight downstairs and remain relaxed when left for short, reasonable periods.

Guests share our home with Daisy, my Miniature Dachshund, and my gentle-natured older Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Each dog is assessed individually, with careful introductions arranged before a booking is accepted to ensure the best experience for all.

As this is a shared home environment, the licensed home boarding service will not be suitable for dogs that need to sleep upstairs, require constant human company, must avoid other dogs, or can only be exercised alone. We prioritize proper Dachshund care and the well-being of all our furry guests.

Digital Registration

If we agree to continue, you will be sent the Dashing Dogs digital registration form to provide the required health, vaccination records, veterinary, behavioural, and care information, which is essential for ensuring your Dachshund’s care during home from home dog boarding at our licensed home boarding facility.

Meet & Greet

Once the registration has been reviewed, we arrange a meet and greet to discuss your dog’s needs and introduce them to me, my home, and the resident dogs, ensuring a comfortable atmosphere for their stay in our licensed home boarding. This way, we can provide the best Dachshund care while making them feel like they are in a home from home.

Assessment

Your dog’s temperament, behaviour, routines, and compatibility are carefully evaluated to determine if they are suited for licensed home boarding, ensuring a home from home dog boarding environment that meets their needs.

Overnight Trial

Before confirming a longer home from home dog boarding stay, a successful overnight trial is required. This trial helps us assess how your Dachshund settles, sleeps, and adapts to our household routine, ensuring a smooth transition during licensed home boarding.

Completing the registration and assessment process for our licensed home boarding does not automatically guarantee acceptance or reserve the requested dates. Following a successful overnight trial, a booking for your Dachshund care is only confirmed once suitability has been established, the dates have been agreed, and the required deposit has been received.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at dashing_dogs@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We specialise in Dachshunds and welcome suitable small and small-to-medium breeds, generally up to around 10kg. Dogs must be at least one year old, neutered, fully vaccinated and comfortable living with other dogs.

Dashing Dogs home boarding is best suited to sociable dogs that can join group walks, sleep downstairs and remain settled when left for short periods. Every dog is assessed individually before being accepted.

The process begins with an initial enquiry, followed by completion of the Dashing Dogs digital registration form. Once the information has been reviewed, we arrange a meet and greet so I can learn more about your dog and begin introductions to the resident dogs.

Your dog must then complete the assessment process and a successful overnight trial before a longer boarding stay can be considered.

Yes. A day and overnight trial is mandatory for every new boarding dog, regardless of the intended length of their future stay.

The trial allows me to assess how your dog settles into the home, interacts with the resident dogs, responds to the household routine and sleeps overnight. Sometimes a trial shows that the environment is not the right fit for a particular dog, and that is completely fine. The purpose is to make an honest decision that protects the wellbeing of your dog, the resident dogs and any other dogs in my care.

Please read our Overnight Trial Information document below to learn more about what the trial involves and how suitability is assessed.

Successful completion of the trial does not reserve future dates, which remain subject to availability and payment of the required deposit.

Yes. All dogs accepted for home boarding must be neutered. Unneutered males and unspayed females cannot be accommodated under the current Dashing Dogs boarding procedure.

Dogs must have current vaccinations against canine parvovirus, canine distemper, infectious canine hepatitis and leptospirosis. Evidence of vaccination must be provided as part of the digital registration process and will be reviewed before the meet and greet and assessment can proceed.

Kennel cough vaccination is strongly recommended but is not currently mandatory. Owners must also confirm during registration that their dog is protected against parasites and disclose any relevant illness or health concerns.

Visiting dogs sleep downstairs in an agreed sleeping space. If your dog is crate trained, we have a number of different-sized crates available for them to use during their stay.

If your dog does not use a crate, please provide their usual bed or a familiar blanket to help them settle.  Visiting dogs need to be comfortable sleeping independently in the agreed downstairs area, as upstairs sleeping and bed-sharing arrangements are not available.

Dogs must be able to remain settled when left for short, reasonable periods. They are not routinely left alone for more than three hours within a 24-hour period, and dogs are never left together unsupervised.

If your dog experiences separation anxiety, becomes distressed or displays destructive behaviour when left, Dashing Dogs home boarding may not be the right fit. Any difficulties with being left must be disclosed during registration and discussed at the meet and greet

Please provide enough of your dog’s usual food for the complete stay, together with their bed or a familiar blanket, harness and lead, any required medication with clear instructions, a small selection of treats and favourite toys.

Any belongings, dietary requirements and care instructions will be confirmed before the stay.

Yes, agreed non-intrusive medication can be administered with the owner’s consent. Medication must be supplied in its original packaging with clear written instructions.

All requirements must be discussed before the booking is accepted so I can confirm that your dog’s medication can be managed safely.

Yes. Photographs and updates will be provided during your dog’s stay so you can see how they are settling and enjoying their time at Dashing Dogs.  We may also publish these on our social media channels.

If there is anything important to discuss, a change in your dog’s wellbeing or an incident, I will contact you directly.

Home boarding starts from £45 per 24-hour period for stays of two or more consecutive nights. A single 24-hour stay and bookings during designated high-season periods are charged at the applicable rate.

Our fees reflect the complete service provided, including a licensed home environment, walks, companionship and attentive care throughout your dog’s stay.

Current pricing will be provided during the initial enquiry, with the total confirmed once the dates and arrival and collection arrangements have been agreed. A booking is only confirmed and the dates secured once the required deposit has been received.

Please contact me with your required dates and some initial information about your dog, including their breed, age, approximate weight, neutering and vaccination status, normal routine and experience around other dogs.

If the service appears suitable and the dates are potentially available, you will be sent the digital registration form. This is followed by a meet and greet, assessment and mandatory overnight trial.

A booking is confirmed only after suitability has been established, the dates have been agreed and the required deposit has been received.
